I hate to write a negative review on an appliance that we’ve only used a couple of months but… This advanced unit/insert is supposed to have the capacity to heat a 3000 square-foot home. We have a 2300 square-foot home and it barely heats the living room that it’s in. I do not like the fact that the glass door blackens so badly that you cannot see the wood inside burning nor do I like the flimsy metal frame/fitting that hangs precariously over the inserts on our brick fireplace. I am biased because I just prefer a roaring fire in an old time fireplace and I was encouraged to purchase this very expensive item by my husband who thought it would be wise for us to have a source of heat and a stove in the event that we lose power during one of the heavy Texas winter storms. Maybe I will love it then?
