Fantastic product, have had two previous wood furnaces ( I called them wood incinerators) from other manufacturers I believe from1 was from Newmack and the other from Hunter and the Drolet performs like a free standing steel plate wood-stove, whacks out heat when you need it.. I love having the window so that I can see how the fires coming along. Well seasoned, dry wood is definitely essential, mine is not fully seasoned so I frequently clean out the heat ex-changer tubes. Heat out put decrease which immediately tells me they need cleaning. I love the ash drawer and clean out bung in the fire box how ever I'm not impressed with the wing nuts on the ash drawer, the welding securing bolts drag on the hole sin the ash drawer front panel when sliding it out. I feel eventually the bolts will strip over time, a cam locking system would be nicer. I furnace remains cool to the touch on just about the whole exterior casing. Square or rectangular outlet ports for ducting would be better in my install anyway. I have rectangular 8" x 10" duct hooked up to the 8" round ports.
