I've had the Drolet Escape 1800 for 3 weeks. I am enjoying it. There is a learning curve to keeping the fire at optimal burning temperature. I purchased a woodstove thermometer to help me know when to add more wood, or when it may be getting too hot.

I've had the Drolet Escape 1800 for 3 weeks. I am enjoying it. There is a learning curve to keeping the fire at optimal burning temperature. I purchased a woodstove thermometer to help me know when to add more wood, or when it may be getting too hot. This woodstove definitely will conserve fuel, as it creates a slow burn with door shut. Do not buy a grate, I almost did. It is made to be used without one. The size of this pedestal model is perfect, not too big for a corner, and long enough for 20 inch logs. I don't have anything negative to say about it at all.
