We bought this stove 6 years ago and are very happy with it. The original gasket is still on and we haven't had to adjust the door so far although I'll replace the seal next season. We live in Nova Scotia and burn around 4 cords of seasoned wood every winter, that stove is our primary heat source. We had some flaking paint under the top plate and SBI sent us a can to repaint it, it flaked again but this isn't a problem for us. I had a Pacific Energy stove in Quebec and although the burn was a bit cleaner due to the design of the baffle and insulation on top, I could see damage to the baffle and supports after a few years of use so the better combustion came with a more complicated fragile construction. The Legend is a very large stove that will give very good results when loaded properly in a large space, we have reduce the size of the combustion chamber using fire bricks from a discarded pottery kiln which improved the secondary burn by a lot. Our next wood stove will be a Drolet but a smaller unit which will provide a better combustion when only loaded with three 16" logs which is our usual load.
