Purchased this stove to replace my old Jotul 12 Firelight. Beginning to regret this decision. Installed it Jan 21/2025 - Have not had satisfactory results as of yet. Rated to heat up to 2300 sq ft. Can't even keep a 250 sq ft room heated for very long. Can't get past 500 degrees and won't last. Leaves mounds of coal unburnt, 2/3 of firebox at end of day. Does not turn to ash. Tried shutting off HRV, crawl space dehumidifier. No change. On Jan 27/2025, called Drolet, spoke to Martin. He said probably too much draft from masonry chimney causing secondary air to cool down second stage of burn and also draft causing heat to go out the chimney. Recommended partly blocking intake under stove for secondary air and adding damper to stove pipe in order to slow the draft (keep heat in stove). Installed damper that evening. Getting slightly better heat for a very short time but still not burning coal to ash. Still trying to figure out how this stove works.
