I updated a mid 80's Vermont Castings Defiant to the HT3000 and wish I had done it sooner. My house is 2500 sqft plus an additional 1250 sqft basement (where the stove is located). This stove heats it well although it struggles in the single digits (F)

I updated a mid 80's Vermont Castings Defiant to the HT3000 and wish I had done it sooner. My house is 2500 sqft plus an additional 1250 sqft basement (where the stove is located). This stove heats it well although it struggles in the single digits (F) or below as I am heating more footage then its meant to. The ash cleanout is much easier, the stove requires much less babysitting, and it produces very little smoke with good seasoned wood. Much less frequent chimney cleaning needed now as well. I've only had it one year but so far it seems to be an excellent value.
