We had trouble I initially to get a good air draft. We found out the problem was that our fires we not big enough to start. Use lots of paper and kindling and get a good base fire before adding bigger wood. This particularly played a big role for us because we have a chimney that goes along the outside of the house and it lined with a 5inch pipe. The stove throws a lot of heat once you get it going.
